Kusama Vision applicant verification
Identity and residence verification for the Kusama Vision Program, via zkMe.
What zkMe verifies
- your identity: a genuine government ID plus a live selfie, so you are its holder
- your residence: an address document not older than 90 days
Countries we cannot accept
Based on where you reside (not your nationality), the Program cannot accept applicants resident in North Korea, Iran, Russia, Belarus, Cuba or Syria.
Residence in the occupied Ukrainian territories (Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, and the occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson) also cannot be accepted. This is a residence restriction only; your country of citizenship does not affect eligibility. If you reside in one of these places, the residence check will not pass — please raise it in your Matrix room rather than starting the verification.
What the curators receive, and what they never see
The curators receive, tied only to your anonymous verification ID:
- your verified country of residence (the country only, e.g. "Switzerland")
- your country of citizenship (shown to curators in zkMe's dashboard)
- pass/fail results: residence outside the embargoed countries, identity and liveness passed, and zkMe's own sanctions pre-check
The curators never see your name, date of birth, address, documents or selfie through zkMe; those stay with zkMe. Identity details the curators need for their own sanctions screening are provided separately in your Matrix room, not through this page.
Depending on your case, the curators may additionally need, always announced in your Matrix room and never enabled silently by this page:
- for some countries, a stronger proof of residence: the curators send a letter with a code to your address and you post the code back;
- a repeat of the sanctions screening before each payout;
- your consent to zkMe selectively disclosing your verified legal name and date of birth to the curators for their manual sanctions screening.
Where your raw data ends up, and the long-term risk
Be clear about what you are agreeing to. Your ID photos, selfie and address document are uploaded to and processed on zkMe's servers; this is not an on-device-only system. To meet legal retention duties, zkMe then keeps your raw verification materials, encrypted, in its zkVault on public decentralized storage (IPFS). Decryption requires the cooperation of multiple key holders and is intended for cases such as a lawful order; no single party can decrypt alone. The linked zkMe documentation explains the mechanism and what is stored.
The blunt part: ciphertexts on a public network can be copied by anyone, today, and kept forever. zkVault's key encryption is elliptic-curve cryptography, which future quantum computers are expected to break. If that happens, archived copies of your passport data could become decryptable. Treat the confidentiality of what you upload as time-limited, not permanent. If this is not acceptable to you, say so in your Matrix room: a manual verification process without zkMe exists.
The flip side, and zkMe's actual differentiator: this upload happens once, at issuance. Afterwards your credential lives on your device, every proof is generated locally, and your raw data is never transmitted again, not to zkMe, not to the curators, not to anyone.
This page itself stores nothing, has no backend, and talks only to zkMe. Sanctions screening is done separately by the curators; nothing here replaces it.
How it works
- The curators assign every beneficial owner of a proposal a personal
verification ID (a random code starting with
kv) after the signed declaration in your Matrix room. Your link carries your ID; it links your verification to your application and contains no personal data. - Each curator verifies applicants independently, so complete the verification once per curator, in two steps: an identity check (ID scan and selfie) and a residence check (a proof-of-address document not older than 90 days, e.g. a utility bill or bank statement). The first identity run takes a few minutes; later runs reuse your zkMe credential and take seconds. Do the identity step before the residence step.
- When every row shows ✓ verified, tell the curators in your Matrix room.
Each curator sends you a personal verification link in your Matrix room; this page cannot start a verification without one. Opening a link shows that curator's steps, with your verification ID and session already filled in; repeat with each curator's link.
This does not look like a valid verification ID; paste it exactly as assigned by the curators.
